Title, Synopsis & Outline

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Title:

Gotham's Gunslingers: The Who, Why, Where and How.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Synopsis:

Nowhere else in the world is gun control a political and social fixture as it is in the United States, where the right to bear arms is enshrined in the Constitution. The world we live in today, however, is far removed from the one that this country's founding forefathers knew. Cities such as New York, Boston, or Washington DC serve as interesting case studies of the balance between preserving the 2nd Amendment and addressing social problems caused by the criminal use of illegal guns. This ethnography offers a peek into the secretive and often-misunderstood community of legal gun owners in New York City, who brave the monetary expense, bureacracy and social stigmatization in pursuit of their hobby.
